Have questions about what’s happening on post or with the 3rd Infantry Division?
Try asking them on Facebook.
Seriously.
The 3rd ID has set up a live “town hall” for 1 to 2 p.m. today on the Fort Stewart Hunter Army Airfield page of the social media site.
Hosted by the Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield garrison command, the event will include updates on 3rd ID redeployment, information about the Month of the Military Child, National Child Abuse Awareness Month, Substance Abuse Awareness Month and the Army’s Exceptional Family Member Program.
Post representatives will answer questions already posted “and any more that come in during the hour-long town hall,” the Army said.
The site was opened Sunday afternoon for questions and comments, according to Fort Stewart spokesman Kevin Larson. officials have offered some encouragement to get the ball rolling.
The “first on-topic question ad the question with the most positive reactions gets FMWR prizes,” the page said.
FMWR is the acronym for the Army’s Family Morale, Welfare and Recreation programs.
It’s unclear what Army officials will consider on-topic, but by Tuesday afternoon, 10 comments had been posted, ranging from specific questions, such as how deployment impacted a soldier’s orders to another duty station, to suggestions on how to reduce traffic congestion on certain roads or at gates.
Posts about an abandoned vehicle, upcoming deployments and soldiers leaving pets behind were also left in the town hall thread.
Several of the posts had already drawn responses from post officials, including one regarding the abandoned vehicle.
“The vehicle in question has been identified, tagged as an abandoned vehicle and should be towed tomorrow. Please let me know if this vehicle is still there on Wednesday,” it said.
