According to Dolphins Wire writer Antwan Stanley, former Liberty County High School linebacker Raekwon McMillan may get a chance to start at that position for the Miami Dolphins.

Staley reported current Dolphin outside linebacker Koa Misi is out from off-season neck surgery. Staley said McMillan stood out during mini-camp, training at every linebacker position, including middle linebacker.

“Despite being a second-round pick, it appears McMillan is the rookie from this year’s class with the best chance to start in the Dolphins’ season opener against Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 10,” Staley reported.

McMillan was selected by the Dolphins in the second round of the 2017 NFL draft.

The former Ohio State Buckeye twice led his college team’s defense in tackles during his sophomore and junior year with 119 and 102 total tackles respectively. He was named Second-Team All-American by the Associated Press. He was also a Butkus Award semi-finalist, an award he received during his high school career.

Staley said McMillan is the athletic linebacker Miami has been looking for.
