POSTED: August 12, 2017 3:52 p.m.

Rookie Miami Dolphin Raekwon McMillan, who played high school football with the Liberty County Panthers, was injured during the first play for his first NFL game Thursday.

McMillan reportedly tore the ACL on his left knee.

The Dolphins’ team website reported McMillan confirmed Friday he will be out for the season and sent out a message on social media thanking fans and friends for their support

The Miami Sun Sentinel reported that the former Ohio State standout was seen leaving the locker room on crutches after the game.

The newspaper reported that Dolphins coach Adam Gase did not know the severity of McMillan’s injury Thursday night.

The Dolphins beat the Atlanta Falcons, 23-20.

McMillian, an Ohio State standout, was drafted by the Dolphins in the second round of this year’s NFL draft. He was projected to start at middle linebacker for Miami, according to the team website.
