Long County High School recently had its third annual High School Art Show. Parents, faculty, students and community were encouraged to look at the students’ artwork.

Art teacher Melissa Lambert said the art covered a third of the high school. Seven-foot pieces of art were displayed in the hallways, alongside other works by students.

At the end of the show, Lambert talked about how talented her students are. She also detailed the program’s accomplishments and said it has been blessed this school year. The accomplishments included grants from the Georgia Council for the Arts, and from The Rayonier Advanced Materials Foundation. The Art Club also raised more than $3,000 to use for supplies. And several students earned scholarships to art schools, including one who is getting a $20,000 to attend SCAD.

Lambert told the students she was proud of them, and mentioned that six students won contests or had their artwork shown in juried district competitions.
