St. Patrick’s Day in Savannah is the area’s four-leaf clover with all kinds of events inviting guests to grab their green, get out and have some fun.

The popularity has been building for 190 years. And now Savannah’s St. Patrick’s Day is one of the hottest in the nation, with Savannah ranking the third largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the world.

With all those people headed into the Hostess City plan your transportation in advance. Parking can cost anywhere from $5 to $25 dollars on St. Patrick’s Day, with most of the garages downtown running at a rate of $20 per vehicle, if you can find one that has any vacancies.

Shuttles are an alternative and several are available from the outskirts of the city. One of the more convenient ones for Liberty and Long County residents runs from 2658 Highway 17 South in Richmond Hour on the hour. Round trip costs $20 and are available 8 a.m.-midnight Friday and noon- 3 a.m. Saturday-Sunday. Call 912-433-7966 or 912-631-3691.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Friday from 10:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

A Mass starts the day for Savannahians, but the St. John the Baptist Cathedral doesn’t hold enough people to count on attending, unless you’ve already made arrangements.

So, kickoff St. Patrick’s Day in Savannah with the parade. This main event brings everything together – family, friends and fun. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Savannah is the second largest in the U.S., right behind New York. More than 300,000 people are expected to visit and enjoy the city-wide festivities. Find out how to reserve bleacher seating from Kelly Tours and where to go to take a shuttle downtown.

St. Patrick’s Day Festival
Thursday-Saturday
Out of all of the festivals and events on River Street and in City Market, none is bigger or greener than their St. Patrick’s Day Festival. Vendors line the street with gifts and goodies and bands perform music on stages all over downtown Savannah. These two hot spots are where the real St. Paddy’s Day party is. Guests can hit up City Market for a good time with great jams or grab a drink and enjoy the fun by the Savannah River.

If you plan to drink during the festival, you’ll need to get a wrist band for $10 at one of the white tents set up all over the festival area. Then be prepared to show your ID and pay for drinks when you stop at one of the vendors.
