Lee to receive award at Savannah film festival

SAVANNAH — Stan Lee, the Marvel Comics creator known for making brief cameos in successful movies starring his characters, will be honored at the upcoming Savannah Film Festival.
Lee is scheduled to receive a lifetime-achievement award Oct. 30 at the Savannah festival. Lee’s characters — including Spider-Man, the X-Men and the Avengers — took decades, and loads of computer-generated effects, to become box-office sensations after they debuted in the 1960s.
