Autism awareness is focus of drive

The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce is inviting the business community to turn Liberty County blue on March 31 in recognition of World Autism Day. And taking it a step further they are encouraging local churches to Paint Liberty Blue as well as on April 2, which is World Autism Day.

Hinesville Mayor Allen Brown is scheduled to sign a proclamation on March 16 officially making March 31 as Paint Liberty Blue Day to spread Autism awareness. People are also asked to use the #PaintLibertyBlue hashtag on social media so we can see all of the community support.

"We have helped to organize the community around this common goal for two years now," said Leah Poole, CEO of the Liberty County Chamber/CVB.

She also said that the idea for the community initiative was at the urging of Gale Dent, who works with the Puzzle Pack, an Autism support group in Liberty County.
