During last weekend’s 50th reunion of the Bradwell Institute Class of 1962, members of the class and others held a birthday party July 21 for former Superintendent of Schools Ed Edwards.

The South Georgia native who moved to Hinesville in 1950 to teach, turned 86 on July 18.

The party drew hundreds of people to Jimmy Smith’s Green House near Donell Wood Stadium at Liberty County High School.

Smith said many people helped with the party, which featured more than a dozen area musicians.

“It was certainly one of the highlights of my life,” Edwards said.
