Valeria Kim Inman West of Hinesville will host a release for her book, “I Am Only a Prayer Away” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 19  at The Sweetest Thing Cupcakery shop, 320 Pendleton St., Waycross.

She had a book signing in Hinesville earlier and recently appeared on a WTOC talk show to discuss the inspiration for her self-published prayers and devotional book.

Other guests at her Waycross party will be her sister, Yvonne Inman Lott of Waycross, and her pastor, Bobbie Adkins of Mt. Zion Outreach in Glennville.

Lott will also discuss plans for scholarships from Beauty for Ashes Ministry and Young Women of Virtue in the names of their late aunts, Lillie Mae Thomas and Estelle Jones. Thomas and Jones were instrumental in raising and mentoring West and Lott along with their siblings. Adkins will discuss Free-Heart, a ministry for women recovering from substance abuse.

Their organizations are among recipients of a portion of proceeds from the book sales. Other groups that will share in any profits, she said, include, Greater Mt. Zion AME Church of Waycross, Mt. Zion Outreach Ministry of Glennville, and First African Baptist Church of Riceboro.

West said her book “...is in obedience to following the instructions of the Lord to pray daily and in early mornings. After resistance, it was not until I surrendered to obeying his instructions.”

She said that led to her starting a prayer chain on social media.

“I’ve received much input, encouragement, and responses from individuals explaining how the prayers were a blessing,” she said. “Some have revealed the prayers taught them how to pray.  Because of my obedience, the Lord led me to write a book of prayers and devotionals, shortly confirmation from Apostle Daniel Hines followed.”

West currently lives in Hinesville with her husband Jeffery West. She has five children and three grandchildren.

She said her book is a tribute to family, including the late Estelle Jones, Clarence and Lillie Mae Thomas, and her parents, Inez and Willard M. Inman Sr.

West said she wants “I Am Only a Prayer Away,” to remind readers that it does not matter what anyone says about you or the labels attached to you. If the Lord is for you, just do what the Lord tells you to do. He’s more than the whole world against you!
