The Atlantic Area Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) will hold its second annual Mother’s Day Luncheon at noon Thursday, May 6, at the Chatham Club in the Desoto Hilton Hotel. The theme is “Every Child Deserves a Good Mother.” The cost is $50 per person and proceeds benefit CASA. Checks can be mailed to Savannah CASA, 428 Bull St., suite 205, Savannah, GA 31401. Donations are tax deductible.
Every day in America, 1,849 children are abused, neglected or abandoned; three children die from child abuse; and 1188 children are removed from their homes and placed in foster care or institutions. Last year, CASA served 495 children who had been abused or neglected.
During the luncheon, the charity will honor and remember those nurturing mothers, advocates, foster parents and surrogates who have/are making a difference in the lives of children in the community.
