The Rev. and Mrs. Gerald Qualls of Conroe, Texas, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Dr. Karla J. Qualls of Statesboro to Mr. Dwayne E. Rocker of Metter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Barney H. Rocker of Hinesville.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Chapman of Henrietta, Texas, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Qualls of Littlefield, Texas. She holds the degrees of Bachelor of Music from New Mexico State University, Master of Music from Arizona State University and Doctor of Music from Florida State University. She has been on the music faculty of Georgia Southern University in Statesboro since 2002.
The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mrs. Myrtle Mixon of Metter and the late Mr. Eddie Parham of Twin City and the late Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Rocker Sr. of Metter. He graduated magna cum laude from Georgia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in management science and obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from Georgia Southern University. His career has been in banking in the Statesboro/Metter area. He currently is the chief financial officer of Farmers & Merchants Bank of Statesboro.
The wedding will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Statesboro with the reception immediately following in the church’s Perry Fellowship Hall. No local invitations will be sent. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.
