Contestants sought for BBQ festival

The Hinesville Area Arts Council is accepting applications for barbecue contestants for the 11th annual Blues & BBQ Festival, set for 4-11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20.
Categories include pork, chicken, ribs and people’s choice. Cash prizes and trophies or certificates will be awarded to the first- and second-place winners in each category, with the overall winner receiving a $200 cash prize.  
Contestants also may apply to be a vendor and sell barbecue throughout the evening. To be eligible for selection as a vendor, an  applicant must enter at least one contest category. Vendor space is limited. Email chairman@hinesvillearts.com or call 368-4445 to request an application.
The contest entry fee is $25. Vendor fees are $50 if submitted by Aug. 8; $75 by Aug. 29; and $100 by Sept. 15. No applications will be accepted after Sept. 15.
The festival is hosted by the HAAC. This year’s sponsors include Hinesville Downtown Development Authority, the Liberty County Convention & Visitors Bureau and Fort Stewart MWR. Visit the HAAC at www.hinesvillearts.com or find them on Facebook as Hinesville Area Arts Council.
