Liberty County Commission Chairman John D. McIver signed an Abor Day proclamation declaring Friday, Feb. 20, Arbor Day in Liberty County. Morning Glory Garden Club members Judy Shippey, Lanell Crapse and Peggy Fraser were present for the signing.
The proclamation sets forth the values and bene-
fits of trees to Liberty County, and encourages all citizens to respect trees and to plant them wherever possible.
The Morning Glory Garden Club sponsors a ceremony each year on Arbor Day. It is held in Main Street Park and each year, a tree is planted in memory of a deceased club member.
This year’s tree is dedicated to the memory of Faye Chandler.
