On Sept. 5, Randy and Debbie Wilson entered one of their cars in the Altamaha Classic Cruisers monthly competition and brought home top honors.
The Long County couple brought their 1940 Ford Coupe to the event and it was selected by all of the entrants as the cruiser of the month for September.
Car enthusiast from around the region come out each month to show off some of the best-looking vehicles in Southeast Georgia.
“Everyone has a good time, and all of the money we raise goes towards local charities,” said Bill Pilon, president of the Altamaha Classic Cruisers.
Long County resident Jerry Shryer drove his 1974 Ford Ranchero to Jesup for the show.
“That’s my $500 classic. There were only 18,477 of them made. I made a guy an offer on it, got it up here from Florida and been working on it ever since,” Shryer said.
He and his wife Latasha say they enjoy working on the vehicle together.
“She will get right in there with me and tear it apart,” Shryer said of his wife. “It’s as much hers as it is mine.”
Other classic entries from Long County included a 1975 Super Cadillac Funeral Coach and a 1970 Ford Maverick Grabber.
Other entries from around the region included a 1960 Chevrolet Corvette and a 1969 Camaro.
The Wilsons took home a trophy after their Ford was named cruiser of the month.
“Everyone has a good time and gets to show off their pride and joy,” Randy Wilson said.
According to Pilon, the club holds a car show on the first Saturday of each month. Members and non-members can enter the competition.
