Equestrians ride well at state fair

Representatives from Bluff Creek Stables on Colonel’s Island in east Liberty County recently attended The Georgia National Fair State Championship American Saddlebred Horse Show in Perry. Five horses and six riders from Bluff Creek competed in six divisions.
Liberty County was well represented as several competitors and their horses earned various titles: Morgan Dixon riding Dazzling Delivery won the American saddlebred three gaited show pleasure championship; Keith Johnson riding Wild Turkey won the pleasure pony driving championship; Mary Anne Jones showing Winsdown Cosmos won the open western pleasure championship; Sara Kate Garrett riding Choice’s Secret Surprise won the walk/trot, 10 years and under championship in the academy division; Melinda Jenkins showing High Point’s Ultimate Lady won the reserve champion title in the open western pleasure championship; and Madison Pruitt won the blue ribbon in the lead line academy, 8 and under class. Johnson, Jones and Garrett also won first place ribbons in their qualifying classes.
Bluff Creek riders also will compete in the 43rd Annual Harvest Days Horse Show in Tampa, Fla., Nov. 5-7.
Bluff Creek Stables will have its Fall Classic Horse Show at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, on Colonel’s Island. It is open to the public. For directions or more information, call 884-9462 or go to bluffcreekstables.com.
