In the very beginning of time, the Bible states in Genesis 1:1 that “God created the heavens and the Earth.”
After each day of creation, God looked at what he created and said it was good. How many times do we go outside or drive down the road and just not pay attention to the beauty all around us — especially during this present season, when so many flowers are blooming and things are getting so green?
The other day, after waking up and sitting up in the bed, I just happened to look across the room at a painting on my wall. It’s a painting of a snow-capped mountain and the valley below. Just a beautiful mountain scene.
I said to my wife, “Do you know what? That’s a beautiful picture.” That picture has been hanging there for years, but I rarely notice it. I just take its beauty for granted.
Another beauty that we take for granted is that of a changed life. We ought to thank the Lord every day for the change he is making in each of our lives as well as the lives around us. So many of us can say, “I’m not the man or woman I want to be, but thank God I am not the person I used to be.” In God’s sight we are beautiful, and I am sure he doesn’t take us for granted, for he is the one who is making the change in us.
Starting today, decide that you will take the time to recognize all the beauty around you and whisper a prayer of gratefulness. If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, thank the Lord for the changes he is bringing about in your life. If you have not allowed the Lord to change you into a person of beauty, open up your life and let him in and watch the transformation.
Be grateful for the beauty around us
