Ten years have come and gone, and they’re still on fire.
Members of Mt. Zion Outreach Ministries in Glennville, under the Rev. Bobbie J. Adkins, are having a special celebration for their pastor. She has served as their leader since January 2001, and is known as Pastor Bobbie.
“Pastor Bobbie is a bundle of energy. She represents all the fruit of the Spirit. During the eight years I have been under Pastor Bobbie’s ministry, I have grown closer to the Lord, and I have learned how to compromise so God gets the glory,” said the Rev. Denise Williams of Mt. Zion Outreach Center in Midway. She also is an advisor to the Helping Hands Staff at Mt. Zion Outreach in Glennville.
“The love she has for people blows my mind. Pastor Bobbie has helped me tremendously. During different struggles in my life, she has shown me that I can be successful in anything I put my mind to do. She taught me that my family is my first ministry – if you are spending a lot of time at church, you are not spending time with the family,” said the Rev. Calvin Collier, who serves as the youth pastor.
“She teaches about balance. Through her, I learned how to balance family and ministry,” said Collier.
“I admire and respect Pastor Bobbie because she is a woman after the heart of God. She truly loves God and people,” said Dr. Diane Curry, who serves as the assistant pastor of Mt. Zion Outreach.
During 10 years of Adkins’ leadership, three other churches have been established: Greater Deliverance House of Worship in Jesup with the Rev. Carol Puckerin; Mt. Zion Spanish Ministry with the Rev. Hippolitis Polo in Glennville; and Mt. Zion Outreach Center.
Anniversary celebrations will begin at 5 p.m. Jan 28 with a banquet at the Fort Stewart Marne Club. International spiritual leader the Rev. Donald Battle of Divine Faith Ministry of Fayetteville, Ga., is the guest speaker for the banquet.
At 7 p.m. on Feb. 1, the anniversary continues at Mount Zion Outreach Ministry in Glennville with the Rev. Nancy Kornegay of Tabernacle of Prayer in Hinesville. Bishop Julian Jones of Higher Dimensions Christian Fellowship in Rincon is the guest speaker on Feb. 2, and the Rev. Verbetha Tillis of House of Joy in Thomasville will preach on Feb. 3.
Services culminate at
4 p.m. on Feb. 5, with the Rev. Kenneth Kirsey of Power of Faith Ministry in Waycross.
“I feel excited and am looking forward to the next 10 years. I know God has promised some things, and the next 10 years will be even greater than the first. My latter will be greater,” said Adkins.
“Mt. Zion Outreach has some very loving and caring people. Most of them are jewels, and they are hungry for the word of God. Their lives have been transformed by the word. I see tremendous growth in them,” Pastor Bobbie proudly stated.
