My point today comes in the form of a question: Where is your focus today?

As believers of Christ, are we focused on what God is doing on Earth and in the kingdom of God, or does what the devil is doing in the land have our attention?

There are a lot of things taking place right now, such as politics, the various agendas both hidden and open. And there are a number of movements taking place in the world, whether right or wrong.

My faith and focus are on God and what he is doing.

Proverbs 3:6 instructs us to acknowledge him, and he shall direct our path. Neither man nor the various systems dictate my future or destiny, but God does.

My testimony today is my faith looks up to God. In him, I have my being and sense of purpose, and I am victorious because of him.

1 Corinthians 2:1-5 says, "And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God."

Paul was speaking to the Corinthian church, but was also speaking to us today through the word of God. If we are not careful, we won’t believe God nor his word if we trust in the wisdom of men.

I come today just like Paul, and my intentions are that our faith and focus on God be increased. Paul didn’t want to draw any attention to himself or his intellect. He wanted all of the attention to reflect on what God and the power of God were doing.

We were a better people when our focus and faith were on God. The family unit was much stronger, crime was at an all-time low, and we were better neighbors and citizens.

Paul didn’t come to the church with enticing words or with excellent speech or wisdom, but he came declaring the testimony of God. Here in the Scriptures, Paul wanted to get away from the wisdom of men, so he declared unto them Christ and him crucified.

Today, what is our motive, what is the driving force in our lives that causes us to think or act the way we do? Paul began to speak from an emotional standpoint, from a state of mind by indicating his desire. His goal was to please God. Paul had a fear of grieving God or bringing a reproach upon the gospel. Our focus and faith should be reflective of the God we serve, and in his demonstrative power and Spirit. Our God is big, he mighty, he is still working miracles, and he still reigns today.
