Forgiveness is for all who will receive it

When Jesus was on the cross, he prayed, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”
Have you ever wondered who the “them” and “they” are? In this case, he was mainly referring to those who were crucifying him, but in reality, this forgiveness is being offered to all mankind.
John 3:16 brings this truth across when it says that, “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Did you catch the phrase “the world,” indicating that the forgiveness and salvation brought about by Christ’s crucifixion was for the whole world?
Who is included in “the world,” or rather, should we ask who doesn’t it include? Of course, it includes everyone, and that means it includes you and me. This includes the “good” people of the world and the “bad” people of the world. We must remember that the scripture teaches us that we are all born in sin and are all in need of salvation.
Even though everyone has forgiveness offered to them, all will not receive. The Bible teaches that in order to receive, we must be sorry enough for our sins that we desire to change. Then we must confess to God that we are sinners and need forgiveness. The good news is that we are promised, in 1 John 1:9, that if we confess, then the Lord will be faithful to forgive us. He then will come into your life and began a relationship with you.
If you need peace and forgiveness, then this offer is for you, no matter what you have done or haven’t done. The good news is that you get to choose.
