The Rev. Victor Brewton Sr. is a native of Evans County. He serves as pastor of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Ludowici, as well as Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Groveland.

A graduate of Claxton High School, Brewton attended Brewton-Parker College and majored in music.

“While attending Brewton-Parker College, I also had the opportunity to study the Old and New Testaments,” he said.

Brewton served four years in the Armed Forces. When he was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado, he also attended Tibet Community College in Colorado Springs.

After the military, Brewton returned to his hometown of Claxton and began rendering his service to various churches as the minister of music. In 1995, he was called to preach the gospel and is serving as a faithful servant of God.

Brewton is a talented organ and piano player, although he feels his musical abilities have lessened since being in the ministry.

In August 2006, Brewton and his family joined Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late. Rev. Dr. L. Perry McNeal. Brewton was licensed in November 2006 and was subsequently named associate pastor.

In May 2009, Brewton was called to be the shepherd of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Under his leadership, the church has grown tremendously, both spiritually and physically.

In October 2012, Brewton reached another milestone when he was installed as pastor of the Jerusalem Missionary Baptist. His motto for both churches is, “Serving the Lord in excellence, for an excellent God deserves an excellent praise.”

“Because of Macedonia’s illustrious history, I challenge them to do everything in a spirit of excellence. Everything we do should be pleasing to God,” Brewton said. “At Jerusalem, our vision is: Everything we do, we do to the glory of God ...”

Brewton has been married to Missionary Donna Jackson Brewton for 30 years. They are the proud parents of six children, Jeremy, Sean, Jasmine, Victor Jr., Matthew and Jordan.
