We are living in a very chaotic world and complex times, but the “good news” is that God is still in charge.  

Satan’s job is to cause turmoil, corruption and confusion in the land and life of the Christian believer. Without amplifying the devil, he is doing his job, which is to steal and kill and destroy (John 10:10).  Terrorists are very similar in that their tactics are deployed or designed to terrorize people. I am so thankful to God that in the midst of chaos, in the midst of the storms of life, we can have peace and calmness. St. John 10:10 says, “I have come that they (you) may have life, and that they (you) may have it more abundantly.

Troubled times will come in the world and even in our lives, but that’s the exact time when our faith and trust in our God should be stronger than ever before. Yes, we should be honest with ourselves and with God almighty. Lord, I don’t understand what’s going on around me, yet I trust you. I don’t understand what’s happening to my life right now, but still I trust you.

Sometimes, we forget who has charge over us and is taking care of us. A good illustration of this is depicted in the Gospel of Mark 4:37-39 — “And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow, and they awake him, and say unto him, ‘Master, carest thou not that we perish?’ And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, ‘Peace, be still.’ And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” Here, the disciples were very honest about their situation and voiced their concern: “Master, don’t you care that we are about to die?” Jesus woke up and rebuked the wind and spoke to the sea, “Peace, be still (watch this),” and the wind ceased (obeyed) and there was a great calm (peace). The bottom line is, don’t lose your focus or calmness when the storms of life or the world come. Our job is to remember who’s on board, who’s in charge and who’s working in your (our) favor. What the enemy (Satan) meant for evil, God meant for good, according to Romans 8:28 — “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to his purpose.”

Regardless how things look or how bad the wind becomes in life, you and I can have peace in the midst of the storm because God has this. Remember, he can do what man cannot do, and with God all things are possible. I leave with you the words or saying of Jesus in John 14:27 — “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
