In times like these, let love continue

“In times like these, we need a savior. In times like these, we need an anchor. So, be very sure that your anchor holds and grips the solid rock.”
The lyrics from this hymn couldn’t be more true right now. It seems we’ve arrived at a time when the world is operating under an “everyman for himself” mentality.
Nowadays, it’s “when I scratch your back, you scratch mine. Never mind my brother over there whose back has been itching for a while.”
The Bible tells us in Hebrews 13:1 to “let brotherly love continue.” However, in order for something to continue, it must already be going on. John 4:7-8 says, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not love God for God is love.”
There we have it — the answer to man’s dilemma. Brotherly love begins with God and flows down to our brothers and fellow men. It will continue on because of the love of God, who sent his son Jesus to take on the sins of the world so we could be free. He is that solid rock who holds our anchor in place.
