Journey Church has decided to branch out from its main campus in Bloomingdale to plant new roots in Hinesville.
The church, which touts modern messages, forward-thinking preaching, up-to-date musical styles and the motto, "This ain't your daddy's church," will be holding services Saturday nights starting Aug. 23 at the Brewton Parker College Auditorium on Oglethorpe.
"We want to offer the people in Hinesville the option of going to church on Saturday night from 5:30 p. m. to 6:30 p. m. and having all day Sunday free and open," said Larry D. Wilson, Journey Church's lead pastor. "We also want to reach the largest number of non-church goers and Saturday night seems to be working across the country - many churches offer Saturday night services with great success."
Services will not be offered on Sunday mornings because of Wilson's engagement with the church's Bloomingdale facility, but Saturday nights will be an opportunity to "meet new people, relax and worship in an atmosphere created with you in mind." The church will provide free Starbucks coffee and supervised child care at every service for those who need it.
