Deacon Lamar Tillman was recognized as layman of the year during the 114th annual session of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia Inc. on Nov. 12 in Atlanta.
In addition to receiving the layman of the year award, the 1st District, in which Tillman serves as president, was honored as district of the year.
In a news release, Tillman extended his thanks and appreciation to the laymen, members and pastors of the district for their support.
Tillman is a member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Ludowici.
