Making preparations for eternity

This week Hurricane Irma impacted Florida and other places, including us here in Bryan County. Early on it looked like she could devastate us, but fortunately she turned to the west and we received minor impact.

There were people where the hurricane hit who decided not to evacuate. There are always these people who gamble, trusting that either it won’t be as bad as forecast or that they will be safe. The sad news is that some bite the bullet and experience loss of life or major injury. The good news is that most live through it.

There is a choice however where people can’t afford to gamble. We are not talking about the loss of life but rather the loss of soul and this is for eternity.

Matthew 24 speaks of people like this in the time of the great flood as well as the future end-times where it says, "and they knew not what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. This is how it will be at the coming of the Son of man."

The sad news is that many are not taking this seriously and will suffer the consequences. The good news is that many have taken it seriously and the opportunity is still available to anyone who will. The end result is eternal life.
