Making your influence count now
pastor corner

As I was driving down the road the other day, I looked over and saw a sign dedicating a highway for someone. I have driven down that piece of road many times and have never paid much attention to this sign.

This person most likely deserved this recognition and was an influence during his time here on Earth, but the truth of the matter is that the vast majority of people passing by this sign rarely notice it and have no clue what he did to deserve such an honor.

Another truth is that most of us, over time, will be completely forgotten, even if we were a great influence on those around us.

There is good news in all of this: We can be a great influence while we are here now on Earth. We can make a huge difference in the lives of those with whom we associate. In 1 Timothy 4:12, we are told to be an example in our speech, conduct, love, faith and purity.

One day, we may be forgotten. But we can be carried on through the lives of those whom we have influenced — and hopefully, they will do the same.
