Not knowing when the call will come
pastor corner

In Matthew 24:42, Jesus reminds us to be prepared spiritually because we do not know what day or hour he will return back to Earth to reign as King of Kings.

This scripture came to mind the other day when I came upon a three-vehicle accident in Richmond Hill. A couple of drivers going to work had no idea that when they got to that place in the road that morning, a truck would veer right into their path.

Fortunately, none of the three drivers were critically injured.

I also talked to one of my daughters later that day and she asked me what time the accident happened. When I told her, she was so thankful that something caused her to be late that morning; ordinarily she would have been close to that spot at that time of the morning.

What I am getting at is this: The Lord could come back any day and we need to be ready, but our life could end any time before that and when that occurs we need to be ready.

We have no guarantee that we will even get up in the morning nor do we have a guarantee that we will make it through each day. The good news is that if you have chosen to be a follower of Jesus Christ you will be ready if Jesus splits the sky and comes in his glory or if the time for you to go comes.

The other good news is that we are all invited to be hSis followers.
