Reaching the world for Christ
pastor corner

In the book of Mark, chapter 16, verse 15, we are told to "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation."

The word gospel used here means "good news." The good news is that Jesus Christ can totally transform a life, no matter what the previously life was.

2 Corinthians 5:17 puts it this way, "If any man be in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has past, the new has come."

Our responsibility is to reach out to all of the world. We don’t get to choose or define the word "world" as to our preference.

This means that we don’t get to choose based on race or skin color or nationality or social class or even their past. We have a responsibility to try to reach everyone.

How do we accomplish this?

First, we must begin in our own community; would you feel comfortable talking to anyone you might come in contact with and would everyone be welcomed in the church you belong to?

Then we must look at our surrounding communities and be willing to give time and resources to reach those in need there.

Then we can make connections through missions trips in areas in our own country as well as other places around the world. Missions trips can allow you to experience personally the needs in those places you visit.

By the way, if you are interested, we will be heading up trips to Costa Rica and Cuba during this year and can be contacted at 912-308-7635. Also we can pray for and support those called to go full-time as missionaries around the world.

I think the key word is "passion." If we have a passion for lost people without Jesus Christ, then we will have no problem praying for them here and abroad, we will have no problem reaching out to them with the message of hope in our sphere of influence, and we will have no problem with supporting these efforts financially.
