Seek eternal security with faith

I just read an article stating that 80 percent of adults in this country believe that Social Security won’t be around for them when they retire.

It is true that our Congress over the years has borrowed from this fund so much that there is fear it will be in fiscal trouble in just a few years. The truth is, Social Security might not be so secure and because of this, we are being told that we need to be looking at other alternatives as to retirement income.

The great news is that there is a security that is 100 percent secure. The scripture teaches us that if we maintain a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, we are guaranteed an eternal home in heaven.

In 1 John 5:12-13 we are reminded of this security when the writer says, "Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life."

We can go to bed at night and know that when we wake up in the morning things haven’t changed. There hasn’t been a business session among the angels where you were voted out. Satan hasn’t come into your soul and robbed you of it. As long as we choose to stay on God’s side, he will always be on ours.

There is a bit of sad news: there are many who don’t have this security. If we end up without Social Security, it probably means we will have to work longer and we might be living in poverty at worse. But if we die without God’s security, then there will be eternal consequences.

Back to the good news: God’s security is available to anyone who chooses to follow Jesus Christ.
