“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.” — Psalm 133:1-3 KJV
As we boldly step into a new year, we realize the joy of our accomplishments and sadness of our failures. The United Ministerial Alliance of Liberty County has held fast to the word of God, which binds us all together.

There are many challenges that threaten the progress we’ve already made. This community desires for its leaders to be in unity, and the church should lead the way! One definition of unity says it is the harmony between people or groups. The Bible describes an upper-room experience in the book of Acts chapter 2, where everyone gathered in one place and was on one accord. When they were in position and in harmony, God moved in the atmosphere, filling them with his spirit and making a major mark in Christian history.

Liberty County has more than 200 churches within its borders. Can you imagine the impact of all of us coming together in unity?

With one week of planning and a spiritual desire to pray for the youth of Liberty County, Elder Anthony Johnson and the UMA prepared an event. On Friday, Dec. 21, more than 200 people gathered at the Liberty County track for a communitywide prayer gathering. The temperature was well below 40 degrees, and the winds were howling. Yet young people, city officials, county commissioners, judges and pastors joined in unity for an hour of power, purpose and prayer. This shows the power and potential of Liberty County spiritual leaders to do what God has called us to do.

It is both good and pleasant for pastors and churches to come together. The UMA needs your presence to make this mission successful. Be on the lookout for upcoming events and programs. Pastors, elders, bishops, ministers, clergy, etc., are laying aside racial and denominational barriers to ensure the good news of Jesus Christ is the common denominator of unity.
