True security is in God
pastor corner

It seems like every day we hear a new threat from North Korea and its’ boastful leader Kim Jung Un.

It appears that he is a danger to the stability and peace in our country, but also to other countries on this planet. At least in the back of my mind is the thought that we could be heading into war and possibly something that could escalate into a much larger conflict.

How should Christians address this personally? First, I think we must pray for our leaders who have to make awesome decisions and we should pray for a peaceful resolution.

I think I am smart enough to realize that this isn’t always going to happen. So, do we as Christians get anxious about this; do we live in fear? I say "no," because secondly, we need to trust in the scriptures that remind us that we serve a great God who will fight for us if we will put our trust in him.

In Isaiah 54:17, the God we serve gave Israel this promise, "no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and this is their vindication from me, declares the Lord."

I think the promise of the Lord is this to those who serve and trust in him: we will triumph over our enemies, and condemn them and put them to shame. We can claim this promise only because our security comes with the fact that we are the Lord’s servants (in our day, we serve our God through Jesus Christ).

If I am not a believer, first I don’t have a God to pray to and, second, I rely only on my countries’ own strength, and third I may be living in fear. The great news is that we as a country and as a people can put our hope in God and you as an individual can choose to serve our Lord Jesus Christ giving you the hope and peace you are missing.
