Winning souls for the kingdom of God

Long County has a new church and a pastor who is eager to become a part of the community.
Pastor Augustus F. Brown is the founder of Reconciliation Church Ministries Inc. in Ludowici. The church was established four years ago.
Originally from Halifax, N.C., Brown said his desire was to return to North Carolina after serving in the military. He spent eight years in the Army and served in ministry while stationed in Germany and Fort Sill, Okla. He has been in the ministry since 1995.
“Our mission is to win souls for the kingdom of God and to help meet the physical and spiritual needs of families in the community,” Brown said. “Our mission is also to instruct and encourage believers to walk in the power and authority of God’s word.
“My vision for the church is to instill within members purpose and the knowledge of God’s word, which enables us to accomplish greater works for the kingdom of God. I enjoy teaching and desire to see the people of God know and live according to the word of God.”
Brown said his love for people and the desire to see people’s lives enriched and changed inspire him.
“There is a purpose that God has for us and He wants to see it come to fruition,” the pastor said. “My desire is to give people the word of God so they can walk in deliverance.”
Reconciliation Church Ministries’ motto is, “We are a church that is called out to bring out the best in you.”
“We have worship services every Sunday morning at 11:15 a.m., with Sunday school at 10 a.m. Prayer meeting is held on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m., with Bible study at 7 p.m.,” Brown said.
As part of the church’s evangelistic outreach and mission outreach, members visit a nursing home.
“Every third Friday, we have evangelistic joy night, and we also go out into the community, handing out flyers. Additionally, the church has given food to those in need,” Brown said.
The pastor credits his mother, Lois Brown, and Bishop John Lockett (pastor of Pillar of Zion in Hinesville) with helping in his spiritual growth.
“Bishop Lockett is a great inspiration and my spiritual covering,” he said.
“Pastors should not enter the ministry with the expectation that the ministry will take off quickly. You must have realistic expectations and stay focused on God,” he said. “Don’t allow people to distract you. Preach and teach the word — deliver the mail. God wants us to be faithful in the few, then He will give us more.”
Brown has been married for 26 years to Evangelist Annabel Brown, who works at the Fort Stewart daycare and also is in the ministry with him. They are the parents of two daughters. In his spare time, the pastor enjoys fishing and building things.
Brown and the Reconciliation Church family invite the public to their annual women’s conference Sept. 7-10 called “My Sisters Keeper.” The women also are planning a trip to Florida in November.
