The opening reception for “A Stitch in Time,” an exhibit of quilts by award-winning fiber artist Wendy Analla, was Sunday at the Downtown Arts Centre, 38 W. Bacon St. in Pembroke.
Analla is a graduate of Massachusetts College of Art, and currently lives in North Bryan County. She has received numerous local and national awards. Analla does the majority of her quilts by hand and has been quilting since 1976. One of the quilts on display is “Alice Revisited,” which is similar to her “Queen Alice” quilt. The “Queen Alice” quilt is part of the permanent collection at the Atlanta History Center and was placed there after traveling three years as part of an American Folk Art Museum exhibit.
Also, her “Holy Night” work won the “Best Use of Color” award at the Palmetto Quilt Guild in Hilton Head in 2010.
The exhibit runs through Nov. 1. The Downtown Arts Centre is open from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays.
Admission is free.
