The Fort Stewart community worked to make a difference last week. Resident and staffers completed and are still working on several projects aimed at making the base a better place to live.
The Fort Stewart Enlisted Spouses' Club members collected children's books last month to be distributed to the pediatrics clinic at Wynn Army Medical Center. Many members are mothers who have waited for appointments at the clinic with sick children, which can be a stressful experience if there is nothing to occupy little hands and minds. The members thought books would be a better choice than toys, which can get noisy.
On Oct. 23, Jenifer Hatcher and Sonya Milliron presented the basket of books to pediatric nurse Melisa Lyle on behalf of the Enlisted Spouses' Club at Fort Stewart. The club will periodically replenish the books to maintain a good supply of reading material for little patients.
