The Community of Inspired Women is hosting a Merge panel event from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Liberty County Performing Arts Center to discuss vulnerabilities of women.

Each month the organization hosts a meet up for women 19 and older to discuss different topics. The event includes a networking session with refreshments followed by an open discussion led by various women in the Liberty County area. The cost is free and childcare is provided.

The October panel will feature local female leaders who will share stories and solutions to inspire women to overcome obesity, homelessness, abuse, sexually transmitted diseases and more.

“There are issues that impact women in our community significantly and we wanted this Merge event to focus on those issues and how we can protect ourselves from being a bad statistic,” said Pat Jackson, special events coordinator for CIW. "Even if you don't think these issues impact you directly, come and bring a friend to learn how you can help women in your life who may deal with these issues now or later."

The event will also celebrate breast cancer survivors and share information about breast cancer services. All attendees are asked to wear pink.

There will also be a pink shoe parade signifying to breast cancer survivors that they do not have to walk alone. Anyone wanting to participate in the shoe parade should wear pink shoes and arrive at the event by 5:30 p.m. to sign-up.

Community of Inspired Women is a grassroots nonprofit organization founded in February 2013. It brings together women of all backgrounds to empower one another through networking, collaboration and information. For more information, visit www.communityofinspiredwomen.org or call (912) 222-2211.
