Sara Swida, director of Keep Liberty County Beautiful, and her assistant, Karen Bell, were guests at the September meeting of the Goldenheirs.
They head up an education and volunteer action program dedicated to community improvement. KLCB has four focus areas:
• Litter prevention
• Beautification and community improvement
• Waste reduction and recycling.
• Stormwater pollution abatement and water conservation education and awareness.
Swida encourgared each member of the Goldenheirs to do their share by working together to shape Liberty County into the ideal community. KLCB volunteers work to make our region healthier, cleaner and a more desirable place to live in. The group scheduled many programs scheduled throughout the year that everyone can participate in.
The Goldenheirs, a club for seniors, meets at First Baptist Church of Hinesville on the first Tuesday of each month. Meetings start with a covered-dish lunch at noon, followed by a program or a speaker.
At the Oct. 6 meeting, Brenda McMillan from St. Joseph/Candler Home Health will speak. All interested senior citizens are welcome.
