Goldenheirs learn about personal security

The Goldenheirs will meet July 6 at First Baptist Church in Hinesville at noon for a covered-dish lunch. The Jubilee Choir, under Elaine Walker’s direction, will present a program of patriotic selections and old favorites. All seniors are invited.
At the group’s last meeting, Officer Williams from the Hinesville Police Department spoke to Goldenheirs members about personal security. Williams went over elder-abuse prevention and the different types of abuse, including physical, emotional and psychological. In 67 percent of abuse cases, abusers are caregivers, and in 13 percent of cases, family members are the abusers. Caregivers should be carefully chosen for the elderly, Williams said.
Members also were reminded that new officers will be elected soon.
