Liberty County's Goldenheirs got a lesson in the YMCA during their February meeting.
Representatives of the Liberty County Armed Services Family YMCA Ambria Lanteigne, office manager/membership sirector, and Mary Gambel, RN, MSN, representative of St. Joseph's/Candler and health educator for the Y, were at the meeting.
Ambria showed a video on the history of the YMCA and explained some of the programs available at the Y. Those include water aerobics, exercise classes and chair aerobics.
Gambel explained that the YMCA offers health screenings, nutrition counseling, etc. She said programs can be created as needed for interested groups.
Goldenheirs is a senior group that meets at noon on the first Tuesday of every month at First Baptist Church in Hinesville for a covered dish lunch and a program of interest to senior citizens. The next meeting will be on March 4. "Zack Kirby and Friends" will present a musical program, reports George Laseter, program chairman. All seniors in the community are invited.
