Keep Liberty Beautiful director Sara Swida talked to the Goldenheirs at the group’s February meeting.
KLB is a community-education and volunteer-action organization focused on litter prevention and eradication, waste reduction, recycling and community improvement.
Swida explained that a lot of waste — seven or eight pounds of trash per person — is generated every day.
It is important for our area to be clean and attractive, she said. Recycling is essential, as is planting trees.
Swida passed out Keep Liberty Beautiful calendars and recycling bags.
The Goldenheirs is a senior citizens group that meets the first Tuesday of each month at noon at First Baptist Church in Hinesville for a covered-dish lunch and program of interest.
The next meeting is Tuesday, March 1.
