Goodwill promotes awareness campaign

SAVANNAH -- Goodwill Industries of the Coastal Empire, Inc. announces its Awareness Campaign with upcoming promotions, fundraisers and an educational forum. The SMILE Campaign continues until Aug. 17. Community Day on the River is Saturday, the Smiley G tour begins Monday and Goodwill BLT is scheduled for Aug. 20.
The Goodwill SMILE campaign is a fundraiser generated in the retail stores. Customers have the opportunity to purchase a smiling "G" that will be placed throughout the stores. The smiling "G" can be purchased in honor of those serving in the Armed Forces.
Community Day on the River benefiting Goodwill Industries of the Coastal Empire, Inc. is Saturday. The event is part of the Savannah Waterfront Association's First Saturday on the River Festival.  Participating restaurants and businesses will donate 10 percent of their daily sales to Goodwill Industries. Goodwill Industries will also be on site with information explaining Goodwill Industries and its services.  First Saturday on the River festivities is from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Rousakis Plaza and features 31 arts and crafts vendors as well as entertainment.  
The Smiley G tour is scheduled to travel across the Coastal Empire Monday-Aug. 15. Local businesses will have the opportunity to sponsor the tour by contributing a donation of $100 or more, the sponsorship allows businesses to share a SMILE and pass it on to customers, clients, friends, associates, etc. Smiley G will be delivered to the sponsored business. When Smiley G arrives at designated business, that business is asked to contribute a donation to have Smiley G delivered to another business and to continue sharing a SMILE across the Coastal Empire.  
The Goodwill Brunch, Learn and Tour is scheduled for Aug. 20 from 9-10 a.m. at the Goodwill Industries Corporate Office, 7220 Sallie Mood Drive. The Goodwill BLT is a one-hour opportunity to learn first-hand about all the positive things happening at Goodwill. The BLT consists of a brunch, a chance to learn and concludes with a tour. A minimum suggested donation for the BLT is $5, which includes brunch and a Goodwill SMILE to be displayed in attendees honor. Reservations are required and must be received by 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18.    
The Goodwill Awareness Campaign compliments the Goodwill focused theme for 2008-2009, "Donor," which honors all Goodwill donors, volunteers, fundraisers and workers promoting the Goodwill name and mission.
