Gum Branch residents to walk 60 miles to fight cancer

Matt and Jodi Woods of Gum Branch have begun their training for the 2009 Susan G. Komen 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk. It is a 60-mile walk over a three-day period. The event is Oct. 23-25 in Atlanta.
The Woods are getting their bodies ready by walking many miles a week, but they need help. They must raise $2,300 each to participate in the walk. Understanding money is tight right now and most people may not be able to make a monetary donation, they have a suggestion. People can donate aluminum cans. All the money made from recycling will go directly to the walk.
If you have aluminum cans that you would like to donate and you would like to have them picked up,  call 369-4853. If you would like to drop them off yourself, leave them across from the ball field in Gum Branch. Just put them in a plastic bag and leave them just inside the fence on the right. If you would like to make a monetary donation, go to www.the3day.org/goto/JodiWoods or, if you prefer to send a check, make it payable to 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk and send to this address:
