It starts to look like Halloween next week. See “Monster House,” rated PG, at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 on the grassy area on the south side of Tominac Fitness Center. There is no charge. Movie-goers are asked to bring their own snacks. If it rains, the film will be shown inside Tominac.

Halloween Bash at Club Stewart  

Put on a costume and join the party Oct. 25 from 9 p.m.-2 a.m. at Club Stewart with deejay FreakSho laying down the beat. The night includes a costume contest, drink specials and lots of fun. There is a $5 cover charge.

Wildlife photo contest

Stewart/Hunter amateur photographers with military IDs can submit entries in a wildlife photo contest.

Submissions will be accepted until Dec. 31 at the Pass and Permit Office. No pet photos, please.

Fees are $15 (18 and older), $10 (16-17) and $5 (15 and younger). Judging and presentation of awards will be later. Age groups with fewer than 5 entries will receive certificates instead of cash prizes.

Golf demo days

Try new golf equipment during a free Golf Demo Day at Hunter Golf Club from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday and Saturday. PING and NIKE vendors will be there.

Costume Run

Put on a costume to have fun and maybe win a prize during the Family Costume Fun Run starting at 10 a.m. Saturday on Hunter.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at the starting point, Stephen Douglas Street and North Perimeter Road.

There’s no charge, and you can run 5K or 1.5 mile.

Prizes will be given for the best costume worn by adult, child, and pet. Participants must run/walk the course to be eligible.

Monday bowling league

Bowling in a 16-week, Monday Night Fun League begins Oct. 21 at Marne Bowling Center.

Bowlers of all skill levels are invited to be on a three-person team. Each bowler pays $10 per week. League members can choose a free bowling ball, bag and shoes or $80 gift-card to the pro shop.

Golf scramble

Maj. Gen. John Murray invites players to the Commanding General’s Golf Scramble. It will begin at 1 p.m. Oct. 25 at Taylors Creek Golf Course. Players are asked to register by Oct. 24.

The cost will be $45 per player and includes lunch and golf cart. Door prizes and golf prizes will be given.

Halloween Hoopfest

Men’s and women’s teams will compete in the Halloween Hoopfest – featuring a 3-on-3 tournament and three-point shootout – at Newman Fitness Center Oct. 25-26.

The first game of the tournament be at 6 p.m. Oct. 25. The shoot-out begins at noon Oct. 26

Army civilians and area residents are invited to wear costumes, without masks, to watch the competition.

Learn how to carve the best pumpkin ever at a Pumpkin-Carving Class in the Southside Pavilion of Holbrook Pond Oct. 26 from 3-6 p.m. The class is free, but you must bring your own pumpkin.

College Probe

Get information about selecting a school at the Fort Stewart/Liberty County 2013 College Probe from 8:30-11:15 a.m. Oct. 31 at Bradwell Institute.

Representatives from more than 60 colleges and technical schools will assist you. Information about financial aid will be available from the Georgia Student Finance Commission.

 

Body building

Registration is under way for The Rock Body Building and Figures Contest Nov. 2 at Woodruff Theater.

Weigh-in begins at 8 a.m., prejudging at10:30 and the finals at 6:30 p.m. Spectator admission is $2 for prejudging and $5 for the finals.

The cost to register is $35 until the day of the event. There is an additional crossover fee of $15. Sign up at Newman Fitness Center. 

Awards will be presented for first, second and third place in the following seven men's and women's divisions.

Fall Festival

Liberty County Armed Services YMCA and FMWR's Fall Festival will be 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 26 at the YMCA’s soccer field.

Festivities include arts and crafts, carnival games, food, entertainment, military displays, vendors, a hay ride and other fun. It is free.

Managed deer/hog hunts

Registration is under way for soldiers and retirees for managed hunts starting at 5 a.m. Nov. 9 and Dec. 7 on Stewart.

Register at Stewart or Hunter Pass & Permit Offices by Oct. 30 for the first hunt and Nov. 26 for the second. Hunters will be chosen by lottery. The cost is $10 per person, if selected.

Fifty slots will be available for each hunt.
