The Kiwanis Club of Liberty County received a $500 check from Vaden Nissan as part of the dealership’s Extra Mile awards program. Each week, the Vaden family of dealerships awards $500 to a group or an individual who has gone “the extra mile.” The winner is always featured on WTOC’s Friday newscast at 6 p.m.
The Kiwanis Club has taken on the challenge of helping Liberty County youth understand the importance of reading. The small group of volunteer-minded individuals also won second place in the nation for litter prevention through education by Keep America Beautiful. Throughout the year, they volunteer countless hours reading in classrooms at the Liberty County Pre-K Center and other elementary schools. The Kiwanis Club organized the Kiwanis Art and Talent Show, raised funds to support the Special Olympics and sponsored the Liberty County STAR student.
