Legion post to install officers

East Liberty County American Legion Post 321 will install post officers for the 2016-17 at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Isle of Wight Clubhouse, on East Poncell Drive.

Leading the post into its 11th year will be Commander Dennis Fitzgerald, Senior Vice Commander Alvin Schmitt, Junior Vice Commander Darryl Woodard, Finance Officer Jeffery Bowen, Adjutant John Ryon Jr., Service Officer Larry Floyd, Sergeant at Arms Alan Patterson and Chaplain Murray Romine.

Fitzgerald also has been re-elected by members of the 17 Legion posts in the First District, Department of Georgia as district commander for 2016-17. He has invited all veterans to attend the installation.

Fitzgerald also Saturday, the post will recognize volunteer firefighters, who have been selected by their departments, as volunteer firefighters of the year. One of them will be selected at the post’s firefighter of the year and entered into the Legion’s statewide competition for firefighter of the year.

Additionally various concerns will be recognized as Community Spirit Awards winners. Following the installation, there will be a covered dish dinner and fellowship. For more information, call 912-980-5204.
