ST. MARYS — Auditions for the St. Marys Little Theatre’s season opener, the award-winning musical “Little Shop of Horrors,” will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Theatre by the Trax, 1000 Osborne St.
The production will feature music in the style of early 1960s — rock and roll, doo-wop and Motown — and satirizes science fiction, B movies and musical comedy.
According to T. J. Stofflet, an SMLT veteran who will be making his directorial debut in “Little Shop,” it’s the musical that everybody loves.
“The story is dark comedy with a laugh a minute,” Stofflet said. “The characters are as colorful as they come, and the music is riveting.”
Those interested in auditioning should research the production and its characters to determine what role they would like to play. Singing is required in some roles. Stofflet said that potential actors can get a good sense of what the production is all about by watching the many online renditions of the play.
Performances are September 12-13 and 19-21.
