Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a leading cause of death. It is the cause of most strokes, contributes to heart attacks, kidney disease, and congestive heart failure, and is one of the major factors in dementia. Hypertension affects approximately 1.5 billion people worldwide and even more startling, about 40 per cent of people suffering from it don't even know they have it.
