Women who undergo routine mammograms now have the latest diagnostic technology available to them at Liberty Regional Medical Center. The hospital recently upgraded from conventional technology to state-of-the-art Hologic Selenia digital mammography equipment.
“Liberty Regional is very excited to offer the latest in breast-cancer detection to Liberty County and the surrounding areas,” LRMC CEO Scott Kroell said. According to Dr. Sanford Berens, medical director of radiology at Liberty Regional Medical Center, “Digital mammography is the latest innovation in mammographic imaging, incorporating revolutionary technology that provides incredibly sharp images and detail of the breast.”
The equipment allows radiologists to magnify the images, increase or decrease the contrast and invert the black and white values while reading the images. “This new equipment also contains the computer-assisted detection system that electronically pinpoints masses and calcifications for the radiologist to evaluate. The studies can be done more rapidly, allowing you to be in and out of the hospital’s imaging center much more quickly than before,” Berens said.
Following each mammogram at Liberty Regional Medical Center, each patient will receive a small “token” to brighten her day. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 369-9488 or go to www.libertyregional.com.
