Kenan Kern, district governor-elect, addressed the Rotary Club recently about the importance of supporting The Rotary Foundation. The mission of the foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education and the alleviation of poverty. The foundation was created in 1917 as an endowment fund for Rotary “to do good in the world.” One of the foundation’s major humanitarian programs is PolioPlus, which seeks to eradicate polio worldwide. Its educational programs provide funding for 1,200 students to study abroad every year. “The Rotary Foundation is the lifeblood of Rotary Club,” Kern said.
