The deputy commander for the Southern Regional Medical Command is scheduled to visit Winn Army Community Hospital on Friday.
He will attend the White Medical Home ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. in the Family Practice Clinic waiting area. Brig. Gen. W. Bryan Gamble will be the guest speaker. Hospital Commander Col. Ronald Place also is scheduled to attend.
The White Medical Home is the third and final medical home to open within the Family Practice Clinic. The Blue and Red Medical Homes opened earlier this year.
Eventually, all primary-care clinics on Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield will undergo the same transformation.
The Army adopted the medical home concept because it is a more comprehensive and patient-friendly system that allows for better continuity of care and wellness promotion, according to a news release.
Family practice patients are assigned to a core team that consists of a provider and two licensed practical nurses, as well as a home that includes a staff of registered nurses, medics, a medical support assistant and a care coordinator.
