Williams on CTCA board
New treatment center set to open Aug. 15

President Pro Tempore Sen. Tommie Williams of Georgia Senate District 19 recently was named to the board of directors for CTCA at Southeastern Regional, a Newnan-based cancer-treatment hospital set to open Aug. 15.

Williams, a Republican, first was elected to the state Senate for Georgia’s 19th District in 1998. He represents Appling, Jeff Davis, Long, Montgomery, Toombs, Wayne and Wheeler counties and portions of Liberty and Tattnall counties.

Williams began his working life as a Toombs County onion farmer. He also has been a public school teacher.

The legislator earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and his master’s in education at Georgia Southern University.

Williams currently is a tree farmer in Toombs County.
